The Cruiser Mk VI (Crusader I A.A.)also known as Crusader was a self propelled anti aircraft vehicle used by the british between 1942 and 1945.
The vehicle was manned by a crew of 3 and was 2.66 metres wide, 6.05 metres long, 2.62 metres high and weighed 19 tonnes.
Powered by a 340hp petrol engine the Cruiser Mk VI (Crusader I A.A.) was capable of a road speed of 28mph and a cross country speed of 20mph. The 120 gallon fuel capacity gave the Cruiser Mk VI (Crusader I A.A.) a road range of 110 miles and a cross country range of 85 miles.
Based on the crusader chassis, the vehicle was armed with a Bofors 40mm AA with a muzzle velocity of 823m/sec which was capable of penetrating 57mm of armour at 800metres |
