General Information


The 15 cm Stu.I.G. L/11 Sturmgeschutz IIIalso known as Stug III was a self propelled artillery vehicle , 24 of which were used by the germans between 1941 and 1945.

The vehicle was manned by a crew of 5 and was 2.95 metres wide, 5.54 metres long, 2.16 metres high and weighed 21 tonnes.

Powered by a 300hp petrol engine the 15 cm Stu.I.G. L/11 Sturmgeschutz III was capable of a road speed of 12mph and a cross country speed of 6mph. The 15 cm Stu.I.G. L/11 Sturmgeschutz III had a road range of 88 miles

Based on the pzkpfw iii chassis, the vehicle was armed with 1 light machine gun, a 15cm sIG33 L/11 with a muzzle velocity of 280m/sec which was capable of penetrating 40mm of armour at 800metres
