The Char Leger R-35 (Renault) was a light tank , 1600 of which were used by the french between 1935 and 1945. The vehicle was manned by a crew of 2 and was 1.87 metres wide, 4.05 metres long, 2.1 metres high and weighed 10 tonnes. Powered by a 82hp petrol engine the Char Leger R-35 (Renault) was capable of a road speed of 12mph and a cross country speed of 7mph. The Char Leger R-35 (Renault) had a road range of 87 miles Based on the light tank chassis, the vehicle was armed with 1 light machine gun, a 37 mm SA M1918 L/21 with a muzzle velocity of 388m/sec which was capable of penetrating 13mm of armour at 800metres
