Char Renault D2

France

 

The Char Renault D2 was a infantry tank , 100 of which were used by the french between 1934 and 1945.

The vehicle was manned by a crew of 3 and was 2.69 metres wide, 5.51 metres long, 2.23 metres high and weighed 18.5 tonnes.

Powered by a 150hp petrol engine the Char Renault D2 was capable of a road speed of 20mph and a cross country speed of 10mph. The Char Renault D2 had a road range of 62 miles

Based on the infantry tank chassis, the vehicle was armed with 2 light machine guns, a C.L. de 47 antichar SA-L mle1937 L/53 with a muzzle velocity of 855m/sec which was capable of penetrating 61mm of armour at 800metres
